Get Some of the Bloat off of the Samsung Galaxy S4

There’s no doubt that Samsung has thrown a ton of apps, features, and tweaks into the Galaxy S4. But here in the US, we have to deal with carrier bloat as well. I currently have the AT&T Galaxy S4 in hand and there’s about 10 apps pre-installed from them alone that need to be disabled. I know not everyone thinks those apps are bloat. In my opinion, the definition of bloat is software that you don’t need or want on your phone. Most of these apps you’ll probably never use. Some of them you might want to use. It’s all up to you.

How to disable apps on the Galaxy S4:

  1. Pull down the notification drawer
  2. Tap the gear icon to go into Settings
  3. Tap the ‘More’ tab at the top right
  4. Next tap the ‘Application Manager’
  5. Swipe from right-to-left twice. You should be under the “all” category now
  6. Find an app you want to disable
  7. Tap that particular app
  8. Tap ‘Disable”
  9. Tap on ‘OK’
  10. That’s it. Just repeat steps 6-9 for each app you want to disable.
